Fink, Alexander, Dr.
Short Bio
Alexander Fink holds a bachelor’s and master's degree in industrial engineering and management from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. Alexander wrote his master’s thesis (Title: “Outsourcing the Start-up Identification Process: How established Firms identify Start-ups through Intermediaries”) at ETH Zurich, Chair of Logistics Management and spent an exchange semester at “Universidade do Minho” in Portugal in 2014.
During his studies, Alexander held tutorials in “Applied Informatics” and worked as a research assistant at the “Institute for Information and Economic Law”. Additionally, he gained practical experience at a consultancy agency, at a German car manufacturing company as a student trainee for two years and did an internship at a company which designs and builds earthmoving and materials handling machinery in South Africa.
His research interests lie at the interface between Supply Chain Management and Innovation Management. For his doctoral thesis, he focused on how startups cooperate with established firms. The research topics included how startups can protect their intellectual property in a buyer-supplier relationship with an established firm, and how established firms can identify suitable startup suppliers.
