Short Bio

After he obtained his doctoral degree from ETH Zurich in 2022, Maximilian Klöckner was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chair of Logistics Management until 2023. During his doctoral studies at the Chair of Logistics Management, he spent time as a visiting resarcher at the University of Cambridge. In his dissertation, he empirically examined stock market reactions to decisive events in an operations and supply chain management context.

Maximilian holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He further completed a short-term academic program at Imperial College London, UK (2018) and spent an exchange semester at the Tongji University in Shanghai, China (2017). During his studies, Maximilian gained further academic experience through two research internships, at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, and the National University of Singapore (NUS). In St. Gallen, Maximilian focused on the management of n-tier suppliers in the supply chain. In Singapore, he joined The Logistics Institute Asia Pacific (TLIAP) within NUS and worked on projects related to (urban) supply chain design and simulation.

Beyond academically motivated stays, Maximilian gained practical experience in air logistics at Lufthansa Cargo (2015) and in strategy consulting through internships at Monitor Deloitte (2016) and Bain & Company (2019). Moreover, he worked as a research assistant and tutor for supply chain management and higher mathematics for mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
