PFI is a leading organization for innovation management in Austria. They created the “Young Innovators Professional” Award to acknowledge excellent scientific Master’s theses, Diploma theses, or doctoral dissertations related to innovation research. Entitled “Outsourcing the Start-up Identification Process: How established Firms identify Start-ups through Intermediaries”, Alexander Fink’s study examines why and how incumbent firms outsource the identification process to a specialized intermediary. Since little is known about this outsourcing process and suitable intermediaries, Alexander conducted multiple case studies and drew upon two major theories, namely RBV and TCE.
