Sarah Schaumann’s master thesis is entitled “Considering Times Windows for Last-mile Delivery and First-mile Pickup Integrated Routes in Urban Distribution Networks”. It analyzes the attainable route efficiency gains due to the integration of first-mile pickup and last-mile delivery networks into an integrated urban distribution network. By means of extensive numerical experiments, Sarah Schaumann examined the occurring complex impacts of capacity and time window constraints on route distances. She demonstrates the implications of her findings in a case study based on real-world data of a distribution system.

The BVL is a platform to promote exchange and research on topics related to logistics and supply chain management. It has been awarding this young talent prize for bachelor and master theses since 2010.
