Charlotte Girardin received the HUMLOG Best Master Thesis award by the Hanken School of Economics

Completing her MSc studies at ETH Zurich, Charlotte Girardin wrote her master thesis at our HumOSCM Lab. The thesis was now selected by the Hanken School of Economics as the “HUMLOG Board Award Winner 2021”.

Each year, the external pageHanken School of Economics grants the external pageHUMLOG Board Award to a master student who writes the best thesis on a topic in humanitarian logistics. Entitled “Evaluating the Promotion of Innovation in NGOs – Survey and Interview Based Study”, Charlotte Girardin’s thesis focuses on reducing the resource gap by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of how aid is delivered by non-governmental organizations (NGO) in the humanitarian sector through the application of more innovation. The thesis analyzes and provides recommendations on how NGOs can promote two types of innovation – continuous improvement and radical innovation. The prestigious HUMLOG Board Award comes with a cash prize of €500 for the student.

The thesis was conducted for our Humanitarian Operations and Supply Chain Management Lab (HumOSCM Lab) in cooperation with external pageMedair, and was supervised by Dr. Andrew Parris, Dr. Bublu-Thakur-Weigold and Prof. Dr. Stephan Wagner.
