In December 2017, colleagues from the United States, Asia and Europe joined forces and kicked off a challenging project. The goal of Thomas Y. Choi, Julie Juan Li, Dale S. Rogers, Tobias Schoenherr and Stephan M. Wagner was bringing together supply chain management thought leaders from around the world and publishing a reference book with Oxford University Press. As of today, the online and print versions are now external pageavailable.

The aspiration was to support scholarship, practice and society in solving the world’s most pressing problems and issues. At the time the project was started, COVID-19 was far away. Now, everybody understands and experiences how critical supply chains are, and what happens if they do not perform as was often taken for granted.

The Oxford Handbook of Supply Chain Management:

  • Provides the first comprehensive, scholarly examination of supply chain management
  • Examines managerial issues in supply chain management across the five categories of people and welfare, data and technology, moving goods and services, structure and strategy, and growing and sustaining
  • Looks forward so that the content will remain relevant for many years to come
  • Is valuable for scholars within the SCM discipline (procurement, operations, logistics, and retail), but also for scholars in related disciplines, such as marketing, information systems, and engineering
  • Offers a dual emphasis on scholarly advances and practical insight
