Exchange with Asia-Pacific and global logistics and supply chain experts

At the International Symposium on Logistics in Bangkok, Prof. Dr. Stephan Wagner presented his research on environmental supply chain sustainability risks, as experts discussed the latest trends in logistics and supply chain management, focusing on sustainability and digitalization in the Asia-Pacific region.

Prof. Dr. Stephan Wagner presented his work on “Media-Reported Environmental Supply Chain Sustainability Risks: The Moderating Role of Risk Avoidance”, a joint work with Dr. Ivana Mateska and Laura Stienen.

The external page International Symposium on Logistics (ISL) took place in Bangkok, hosted by external page Thammasat University. The conference provides a forum for discussion among leading academics, researchers and practitioners specializing in logistics and supply chain management, and to promote excellence in the field. The focus was on developments in Asia-Pacific when it comes to geopolitical developments, logistics infrastructure, digitalization and sustainability.

Conference participants also visited a external page Toyota production plant in Thailand. Toyota Motor Thailand operates three plants in Thailand, with the Samrong and Ban Pho plants producing pickup trucks and commercial vehicles, and the Gateway plant producing passenger cars. Toyota Thailand produces for the Thai market and other countries in Asia Pacific (about 50/50).

The Gateway car production line No. 1 runs on a 90-second takt time with two shifts, resulting in a production capacity of about 220,000 cars per year, with current capacity utilization of about 82%. Toyota produces three versions of the Yaris here, including the Yaris Ativ and Yaris Cross.
