Sarah Schaumann’s research developed three innovative concepts to address the challenges of last-mile logistics, in both commercial and humanitarian sectors: the integration of first-mile pickup and last-mile delivery in urban distribution systems, collaborative truck-and-drone delivery systems, and demand-based fleet sizing and outsourcing in humanitarian organizations. For each problem set, she developed estimation models to efficiently assess the system performance.

Reflecting on her journey, Sarah expressed gratitude for the support of her group throughout the four years of doctoral study, and enjoyed the collaboration with international colleagues on multiple projects.

Sarah will join external page Dr. Matthias Winkenbach's team at the external page MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics. Dr. Winkenbach is a rising star in the field of logistics and supply chain management, respected for his work on urban logistics, last-mile delivery, and supply chain resilience.

We wish Sarah all the best for her career and look forward to what she will achieve in the future!
