On March 24, Maximilian Löffel attended the external page Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW) in Geneva on behalf of the HumOSCM Lab. The event featured insightful discussions on current humanitarian initiatives, including topics researched at the Lab. All sessions were under the impression of the sector’s current challenges, particularly the funding cuts from the public sector.
While grappling with the consequences of these cuts, sessions on private sector engagement also opened one way to manage and, at least partly, fill the gap. Diversifying funding and moving beyond pilot projects to scaling private sector engagement were significant topics. Initiatives to bundle emergency appeals and obtain more flexible funding for humanitarian aid, such as the Disasters Emergency Committee, offer another way forward in the sector.
In working with humanitarian organizations, supporting the sector in Switzerland and beyond, and teaching about Humanitarian Operations and Supply Chain Management, the HumOSCM Lab continues contributing to the sector’s success in providing essential aid worldwide.
