
Shanghai research visit and cooperation with Tongji University
Prof. Dr. Stephan Wagner and Dr. Jing Shan visited Tongji University to establish ties to the School of Economics and Management and the Department of Management Science and Engineering, and contributed to a symposium on the globalization of Chinese photovoltaic companies.
external page Tongji University is one of the most renowned academic institutions in China and beyond. Prof. Dr. Stephan Wagner and Dr. Jing Shan from the Chair of Logistics Management had the opportunity of visiting the external page School of Economics and Management to interact with various stakeholders, ranging from students to professors and the school leadership. Furthermore, Prof. Wagner and Dr. Shan visited the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) at the Sino German Center for Mechanical Engineering at Tongji University’s Jiading campus.
Prof. Wagner gave a lecture to bachelor, master and doctoral students where he discussed the role of digitalization and entrepreneurial activities in supply chain processes. He related his lecture to the Chinese Government’s external page action plan for digital, intelligent supply chains. The action plan rolled out on May 26, 2025 advocates adopting cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT or blockchain to drive digitalization to enhance the resilience and security of industrial and supply chains, promote full integration between the real economy and the digital economy, and encourage enterprises to apply digital and intelligent technologies to transform and upgrade traditional industries.
Prof. Wagner also had the opportunity to contribute to a symposium on “The Globalization of Chinese Photovoltaic Companies: Strategy, Organization and Talents”. The symposium was held at the headquarters of JinkoSolar, a global photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer and energy storage system integrator, and the second largest PV company worldwide.
In meetings with the leadership of Tongji University’s School of Management and Economics and with professors of the Department of Management Science and Engineering, several areas of joint interest and collaboration opportunities were identified. The visit was organized by Prof. Dr. Guanwei Huang from Tongji University. The hospitality was phantastic.
