Researchers from Chair receive ISM Best Paper Award

Today we received third place in the Academy of Management OSCM Division's Best Paper Award, sponsored by the Institute for Supply Management.

The external page Institute of Supply Management (ISM) Best Paper Award recognizes papers that demonstrate not only academic rigor, but also relevance to purchasing and supply management practitioners and industry. Three researchers from our Chair were the lucky winners of this year's third price in the OSCM Division.

Social sustainability incidents often happen within complex supply networks beyond the visibility scope of focal firms. In our paper external page "Social Sustainability and Shareholder Value: The Role of Complex Supply Networks", we empirically investigate and discuss the negative performance implications of 142 social sustainability incidents within supply chains, leading to an average abnormal shareholder return of -0.34%. By analyzing the complex supply networks up to tier 3 of the respective firms, we contribute to the understanding of how network characteristics influence investor decisions. Specifically, we find that higher horizontal complexity and accessibility of the focal firm within the network mitigate the negative performance implications, while higher influence over the network worsens performance.
